Nursery in the Making

                                       The Walls...
Daddy spent Saturday morning and afternoon painting Charlie Joy's nursery.  I wasn't "allowed" in the room--daddy's orders not doctor's--but I managed to snap a few photos!  I laughed and said, "You are such a good daddy.  You are painting for Charlie!"  Then I laughed and said, "Well, I guess you are painting for Mommy because Charlie  Joy would be content sleeping in a drawer box."  (For those of you who may not know, that was my "crib" when I was a baby...and yes, I turned out just fine.)

It's amazing the crazy person you turn into while nesting.  Last week, I cleaned out every closet we own.  Oh...except for this one upstairs...maybe I'll do that today!  Over this pregnancy, I have thrown away 10 bags of trash and gathered 10 bags of clothes to donate.  I still have 15 weeks to go (well, 14 1/2--yikes!)  We aren't going to have anything left in this house!

The Bedding...

So...I fell in love with a Glenna Jean bedding set that cost almost $600.  Seriously, that is ridiculous!  I'll share with you why it is so ridiculous....

I absolutely loved the bedskirt, so I hopped online and found out the material it was made out of.  Crushed taffeta--sounds fancy.  Well, my Grandma and I found some on sale at Joann's for $3/yard!!!  We made the entire bedskirt for $9.  Yes--what was on the internet for $200 (the cost of the bedskirt alone), we made for under $10.
We ran into so many sales that day and ended up getting everything we needed to make the bedding--bumper padding and all--for 150 bucks.  :)  Needless to say, we were pretty proud of ourselves.

Here are a few pictures of the material we found and a couple of my Grandma holding the finished bumper pieces up on skype.

The crib...
oh...the crib.  Well, Charles and I have had our eye on a particular iron crib from the beginning.
I went to order the crib online and found out ETA was 15 weeks!  That would mean, it would arrive sometime at the end of APRIL!  Well, that wasn't really going to work since the baby is supposed to arrive MAY 1st!
So, I thought I might be able to find a floor model that I can buy now and that is a little cheaper.  (I really like cheaper...)  So, I called around so many places...of course, no one in Nashville had one.
Needless to say, my mom and I ended up driving to Birmingham to get the bed.  :)
We had a blast!  Talked the whole way down there (which was nice...cause I LOVE my mom).
Anyway, it ended up being 300 bucks cheaper than the online price--tax and all!!!  Oh yes!  Another GREAT deal!

The mobile...
So...I have one more thing to share--the butterfly mobile.  :)
I watched a video online that showed me exactly how to make it. Of course, they never turn out looking exactly like the picture you are trying to imitate.
But, I really like it!  Hope Charlie does too.

Stay tuned for the chair, curtains, and changing table!!!

EEEEEE!!! Nesting is fun! This nursery is coming together and looking SO great!

Charles really is the sweetest Daddy ever. He's put a lot of work into this for Charlie - well, for you. You're right about that. Haha.

The pink paint is perfect. I love it. (And Jory is so adorable!)

I can't believe you're finding such great sales. Man, it sure does pay off to do some research! The fabric and the crib are both wonderful. Thank goodness for grandma! She works fast!

And the mobile is incredible. It looks great. Better (I'm sure) than the picture you were trying to imitate.

I do believe that you are quite a great little Nester! Countdown to Charlie Joy!!
