to start...here's Lil Ling at 11 1/2 weeks!
Today was the 2nd appointment. We were so excited. We had a good feeling everything was ok because of the way my tummy has been slowly getting bigger! Lil Ling is growing...or I'm just eating too much. :)
I gained a pound (yippy!) and my blood pressure was fine.
So...to the good part! The only part I really cared about. I mean, who really cares about weight, blood pressure, peeing in a cup, H1N1, nausea, bloating, ovarian cysts, blah, blah, blah...?! Let's get on with the GOOD stuff!
Dr. Mackey walked in and immediately squeezed the gel on my belly! Oh...the anticipation! She placed the doppler on my stomach and we heard a big sound. What was that? Is that it?! Well, it was "it" alright! It was the baby--dancing. :) Dr. Mackey laughed and said, "Wow...he's got rhythm!" He/she must have been jumping around in there!!
She moved a little lower and we heard the big thud again, except this time it was accompanied by the beat...the heartbeat, that is. Oh...it was the most perfect heartbeat I've ever heard. :) It was nice and strong!
I asked Dr. Mackey what the rate was. She said she didn't have a second hand on her watch but felt like it was on the slow end. "You know that means it's a boy, right?!" she said and then laughed.
"I'll definitely take a little BOY!"
Charles and I were so thrilled. Well, we were more amazed than anything. We grabbed a cheeseburger after the appointment and timed the heartbeat we had recorded--168bpm. That seems to be more on the fast end if you ask me. So...maybe it's a little GIRL.
I guess we will have to wait a little bit longer to find that out! ;o)
Once we finally got home, we crashed. We were two exhausted, happy parents.

Wow!! That is so incredibly exciting for you guys! We'll be thinking about you guys and praying for you. Can't wait to see more pictures of your pregnant self and then of course 'lil ling. :)
